Three groups of Mom’s I’d like to Thank on this Mother’s Day; My own immediate family of Mother’s, My Aurora Kids Mom’s- who parent all our little customers and My staff, and My closest friends who are Mothers.
That’s a lot of Mom’s to be grateful for so I am pretty blessed. One of the best parts of being a Mom is the memories you get to create with your kids. Being a Mom brings back so many memories of your own Mom & Grand-mom that you get to revisit all the things they brought into your life. One of the silliest things my Mom gave me as a kid is one of the most significant. She gave me obstacle courses. She was the queen of sending us outside to find things to do. She was a huge advocate of simple play. She would set up an obstacle course in the backyard for us to challenge ourselves with. She never got to see what I do for a living at Aurora Kids Gymnastics. I wonder how she’d like those Parkour & Ninja Warrior Obstacle courses as well as watching the babies enjoy theirs. You never know what will stick with your kids. I’ve made a living in those Obstacle courses.
I have taught gymnastics now for 23 years. I can honestly say that I have learned from parents as much as I’ve taught their children. All the parents who have come through our Gym doors have added to my personal growth as a teacher, as a friend, and as a human being. I am grateful for the time and energy it takes to commit to bringing your child to a weekly program like ours. I am grateful for all the conversations about everyday little stuff. The stories you all bring into our world are the best part of our day at the Gym. But mostly I am grateful for getting to be a part of little people under development. I love being their first teacher, their motivation to play, and their happy place. Thanks for that.
People who teach come from great parents a lot of the time. I can tell when I hire a new staff member what their parents are like based on how they in turn, talk to the kids. I wish I could thank the Mom’s of all my staff. Because somewhere down the line, your kids “got it”. They got kindness, compassion, fun and the ability to enjoy the moment.
I am blessed to have great friends who are also great Mothers. I don’t think I could be a good Mom without all the support I get from my friends. We love each other deeply and support each other through everything. Our kids are beautiful proof of years of effort and perseverance. I have learned so much from being with these women over the years and I use what I’ve gained to offer support and guidance to parents all the time. They are often the root of my strength. We Moms truly need each other. It’s the only way we can keep the kids from overpowering us and taking over the world before they are ready! I hope that Aurora Kids has felt like a community of support for the parents that bring their kids.
- Happy Mother’s Day!
